The Google AR makeup feature lets consumers try on makeup before making the purchase. Aiming to bring the beauty corner to consumers’ phones, the feature is said to be extremely beneficially especially for those who love to try on makeup before making the final purchase, however, due to the global pandemic are too scared to step out and try different makeup products on their skin. Google virtual makeup is created with help from data partners ModiFace, create augmented reality tech for beauty brands, and Perfect Corp, makers of the popular You Cam Makeup app and other AR beauty tech. Google is also offering an augmented reality feature that will let consumers see certain makeup products from brands like NARS and MAC on the face. Google will also show recommendations from experts and enthusiasts in Google Shopping and your Discover feed. For instance, search for L’Oreal’s Infallible Paints Metallic Eye shadow, and you will be instantly shown how different colors look against different skin tones and eye shapes. Users can even try makeup products virtually on their face, directly in the Google app. The Google AR makeup feature also offers recommendations from beauty, apparel, and home and garden enthusiasts and experts, including professional makeup artist Jonet and candle maker Homesick. Last year YouTube had launched a similar function, which invited consumers to sample products digitally via AR Beauty Try-On. For items that could not be tried on virtually, Google had then rolled out Swirl and Poly, which allow brands to present goods as interactive 3D objects. The Google AR makeup feature is currently available only in the US. In other countries, consumers can use this feature to search for products, user reviews, and compare prices on different sites.
