2. Instagram Servers Are Down

If your service and WiFi connection on your phone is otherwise working fine, then it may just be Instagram’s servers. Although this is rare for Instagram, don’t be frustrated, as this can happen for a number of reasons. They could be performing scheduled maintenance, their servers could be getting attacked, or it could be something as minor as a power outage. Whatever the case, there is no need to worry as when the servers inevitably go back up, you should be able to see your gallery on Instagram.

3. There’s A Glitch That’s Preventing Them From Showing

With software, a lot could randomly go wrong, and none of it could be your fault. Clearing your cache or reinstalling the app could be a quick fix, both of which we explain how to do below.

1. Fix Your Internet Connection

Mobile devices can often be unreliable in terms of internet connection. Luckily, there are a few things you can try. If your WiFi is just slow but still working, try these 5 simple steps;

  1. On your phone, have WiFi on and cellular data off.
  2. Download a speed test app. We recommend Speedtest by Ookla.
  3. Test your speeds. Your download speed on mobile should be around 10 Mbps, and the upload speed is not too important.
  4. Now, turn on Cellular data and turn off your WiFi.
  5. Repeat step 3. If having WiFi only on giving you better download results, keep only your WiFi on. If your Cellular Data worked better, keep only your cellular data on. Remember, the higher the download speed, the better. Now, open your Instagram back up and see if you can see your photos again in the camera roll section.
  6. Turn on airplane mode
  7. Restart the router your device is connected to
  8. Turn off airplane mode This does a fresh restart of your entire WiFi system and could resolve any possible kinks in your network.

2. Wait For Instagram Servers to Resolve

If the Instagram servers are down, there’s not much else you can do but wait. They could be performing scheduled maintenance, their servers could be getting attacked, or it could be something as minor as a power outage. It shouldn’t be more than just a few hours, so hang tight, and it’ll be back before you know it!

3. Refresh Instagram App

On Instagram, you can quickly refresh the application without restarting it. All you need to do is close and open it again. Instagram will now be refreshed, and your pictures should be back in the gallery section.

4. Log Out Then Log In

Logging out and back in is another possible fix.

5. Clear Cache

Instagram can take up a lot of storage on your phone, along with the cache, temporary storage of messages, and image files stored on Instagram. The cache helps Instagram run faster when using it. Clearing the cache will not only free up a little bit of storage, but it could also very well be just enough to fix your problem entirely. Clearing your Instagram cache will not delete any data from your account. Doing this also helps remove any corrupted files stored in your cache, which can fix many issues. Here’s how to do it in 4 simple steps.

6. Reinstall App

Reinstalling Instagram is like clearing the cache, but it removes more info than the cache. To reinstall Instagram on iPhone, go to the homepage. Hard press down on the Instagram icon until the mini-menu pops up. Press Delete App, then go to the app store. Search ‘Instagram’ and re-download it. To reinstall Instagram on Android, go to the Google Play Store and search for Instagram. Click on the Instagram icon on the top of the store page, and next to open, press Uninstall. Wait for it to finish uninstalling, then simply press install again.

7. Restart Your Device

Restarting your device could stop some strange things from happening to your phone and/or Instagram. This can fix the issue if the problem was with your device’s operating system malfunctioning.

8. Check For Updates

It’s possible your Instagram version is outdated and causing a discrepancy between the app and your phone storage. If this is the problem, simply updating Instagram could fix the issue. First, make sure you have at least 1 GB left of storage on your device. If you do then you should be good to go! To update your Instagram on your iPhone, follow these 3 easy steps. For iPhone:

  1. Go to the App Store from your home screen.
  2. At the bottom of your screen, you should see the tab “Updates”, the second to the last button next to “Search”. If Instagram is not listed, it is already up to date.
  3. If you see the app there, it’s ready to be updated. Press “UPDATE” next to the app. If you’ve pressed the update button and you have enough storage, Instagram should successfully update quickly. For Android:
  4. Launch the Google Play Store on your Android device. Tap the search box located at the top of your screen and type “Instagram” without quotes.
  5. Instagram should show up at the very top. Next to ‘open’ should say ‘Update’. If it doesn’t, your Instagram version is already up to date. And that’s it! Your Instagram is now updated to the current version.

How to Give Instagram Access to Your Camera Roll

As soon as you’ve given Instagram permission to view your camera roll, you can go to your gallery and choose a picture you want to post to your Instagram account.
