Dadi Perlmutter, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Intel, will discuss the development of computing technology in today’s world. Perlmutter will also talk about the idea of perceptual computing, which is believed to focus on computer controls ahead of touchscreens and keyboards. As per an Intel spokesman, the firm is investing into latest technologies, which Intel will unveil in 2012 and 2013. These technologies would center on voice processing and the interactive space between users and the screen. The technologies include gesture recognition, face recognition, cameras and sensors, and other ways to offer users’ intentions to a computer device. Latest trends in computer design are also expected to be talked about in this conference. Perlmutter will throw light on the hybrid or convertible devices such as the Lenovo Yoga. These devices are made with flip screens or sliding cases that let users use them as touch-enabled laptops or touchscreen tablets. These hybrid devices are made by lot of makers in the world, which includes Asus, Lenovo, Dell, Panasonic, Sony and Toshiba. Intel will also show off various Windows 8 tablets based on the Clover Trail chip, which is the latest addition in the Atom low-power microprocessor family. Perlmutter is also expected to offer a sample of Intel’s fourth-generation Core microprocessor, code-named Haswell, which will officially ship in the second half of 2013. The Haswell chip is designed to cut power consumption radically, and Intel might include a family of low-power chips that dissolve about 10 watts, or significantly less than most laptops in the past. First of its kind, the Haswell chips will be a part of an Ultrabook, which is thin and light. However, there will also be other speakers at IDF including Kirk Skaugen, vice president of the PC Client Group, who will unveil latest laptops with Diane Bryant, head of the Datacenter and Connected Systems Group; Renee James, head of software and services; Mike DeCesare, co-president of McAfee; and Justin Rattner, chief technology officer, who will talk about the future of wireless. Stay tuned onto Techthirsy.com to hear all major announcements by Intel, its latest technologies, vision, and information on leaders collaborating with Intel to come up with better and faster devices! We will get you all the updates of IDF 2012.
