Sony, in fact, provides sensors to loads of Android phone makers too. No wonder, the quality of such sensors are always a premium. Tim Cook had never made the Sony name public in context of where those awesome sensors on iPhones come from. The CEO is now on a tour in Japan.
Insider deets
Cook confirmed such details about the cameras via a tweet earlier in the week. He tweeted, “We’ve been partnering with Sony for over a decade to create the world’s leading camera sensors for iPhone.” Over years, Apple has never opened its lips about its hardware sourcing for its iPhone models. Even deets on the RAM, the camera resolution, or the aperture never mentions any names. Apple, however, fine-tunes all iPhone cameras via software optimizations.
Summing up
As per latest media reports, the Japanese giant has also developed an image sensor based on semiconductor architecture that helps capture higher light volume and thus, reduce underexposure from the photos.
